2023 WAEC exam begins on Monday, 8th May 2023 as council gives date it will end

According to the , the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates will commence on May 8th and conclude on June 23rd in Nigeria.

Mr Patrick Areghan, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, disclosed this information during a press briefing on Thursday. He also revealed that a total of 1,621,853 candidates from 20,851 secondary schools have registered for the 2023 WASSCE (SC).

Mr Areghan further disclosed that candidates would be examined in 76 subjects and approximately 30,000 practising senior secondary school teachers, nominated by the various State Ministries of Education, would participate in the examination as supervisors.

During the press briefing, Mr Areghan provided additional details, stating that out of the 1,621,853 candidates registered for the examination, 798,810 are males, representing 49.25%, while 823,043 are females, representing 50.75% of the total candidature.

He noted that there was a further increase and decrease in the number of females and males, respectively, compared to the 2022 diet. Overall, the candidature for the 2023 WASSCE (SC) increased by 13,868 over the figure of 2022, which was 1,607,985.

Mr Areghan emphasized that schools that failed to upload the Continuous Assessment score within the expected time frame after several free upload periods would face possible penalties.
