Isa Suleiman, a 23-year-old Nigerian from Kano State who got married to his American heartthrob, Janine Sanchez, 46, in 2020, has recently joined the US Army.
Suleiman posted a picture of himself wearing the uniform of the US Army on his Facebook page, accompanied by the caption “Alhamdullillah- forever grateful”.
Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central and is also a relative of the groom's father, congratulated Suleiman on his enlistment and taunted those who criticized the inter-racial marriage.
The couple met on social media, and Janine flew to Nigeria for their wedding ceremony on December 13, 2020, which took place at MOPOL 52 Barracks Juma'at Mosque in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government of Kano State, with thousands of well-wishers in attendance. Sani stood in as Janine's representative (waliy).
Suleiman's enlistment in the California Army National Guard has garnered congratulatory messages from his friends and well-wishers on social media.
