A woman named Carlishia Hood, aged 35, has been charged with murder, along with her teenage son, following the fatal shooting of Jeremy Brown at a restaurant in West Pullman. In addition to the murder charge, Hood also faces a felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
During a hearing on Thursday, she was ordered to be held on a $3 million bond, requiring her to pay 10% of that amount for release. The son, whose name has not been disclosed, is scheduled to appear in juvenile court.
According to Assistant State's Attorney Anne McCord Rodgers, Hood and her son went to the Maxwell Street Express restaurant on South Halsted Street around 11 p.m. on Sunday.
The entire incident was captured on surveillance video, and Brown's girlfriend identified Hood and her son from photo arrays presented by the prosecutors.
Hood and her son turned themselves in to the police on Wednesday. Hood, who possessed a valid firearm owners identification card and a permit to carry a concealed weapon, had no prior criminal record.

Apart from the murder charge, she was also accused of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In Juvenile Court, Hood's son faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was ordered to remain in custody during the hearing held on Thursday, as confirmed by a spokeswoman from the state's attorney's office.
According to prosecutors, as Brown tried to flee, Hood's son continued shooting at him. Hood and her son pursued Brown into the parking lot, where she allegedly instructed her son to continue shooting and kill him.
After the teenager ceased firing, Hood purportedly directed him to shoot Brown's girlfriend and then tried to take the gun from him. The son resisted his mother's attempt and both of them left the scene in a car, driving home together.
