Doja Cat dressed as Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette, meow during interview on MET Gala 2023 red carpet with Emma Chamberlain
Doja Cat made a grand entrance at the Met Gala, dressed as Karl Lagerfeld's feline companion, Choupette. The 27-year-old musician arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's red carpet in a stunning white, sequined dress by Oscar De La Renta, complete with a long, fluffy train and sequined cat ears.
To further enhance her look, Doja wore prosthetics that made her look even more like a cat.
Doja Cat accessorised her outfit with a silver headpiece, matching bracelets, and rings. During her interview with Vogue's Emma Chamberlain, Doja Cat responded to every question with a resounding “meow.” When asked about her outfit's designer, she replied with another “meow.”
The theme for the gala was “In honour of Karl”, meant to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld by examining his fashion legacy. Vogue encouraged guests to find their “Choupette,” referring to the late designer's white cat and occasional muse. Lagerfeld was known for his signature black suits with white collars, dark sunglasses, and gloves, despite his pet being white.
On Twitter, fans praised Doja Cat's bold choice to dress up as Choupette. Some even commented on her vape usage in the background of Vogue's livestream of the event. Notably, Doja Cat made sure to keep her look under wraps before the gala, leaving her hotel in New York City under black umbrellas. The fashion extravaganza can be followed in real-time via the Met Gala's official website.
