New information has surfaced regarding the arrest of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, by the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to reliable source, the DSS transported Emefiele from Lagos to Abuja after apprehending him on Friday evening.
It was discovered that the embattled CBN governor was attempting to flee Nigeria through the land border in Lagos when the DSS detained him.

An authoritative source disclosed, “Emefiele was arrested by the DSS and subsequently flown from Lagos to Abuja. He was apprehended while attempting to escape through the land border. The arrest took place last night in Lagos.”
Earlier reports indicated that Emefiele's arrest coincided with his suspension from office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Emefiele's suspension was a result of ongoing investigations into his office and planned reforms in the financial sector.
The statement further directed Emefiele to hand over his responsibilities to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) who would assume the role of Central Bank Governor until the conclusion of the investigation and reforms.
