Florence Pugh explains why she shaved head on MET Gala 2023 red carpet, she doesn’t care what people thinks
Florence Pugh made her debut at the Met Gala on Monday, stunning attendees with her new look. She wore an intricate Valentino headpiece that showcased her freshly shaved head. The actress walked the red carpet in a white gown featuring a deep neckline and a revealing cutout, with a large black bow accentuating her waist. However, it was her headpiece that truly stole the show.
Last week, Pugh was announced as the new face of the fashion house, and she had previously hinted at her Met Gala outfit during an interview with the New York Times. She asked Valentino's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, if “big” was okay, to which he replied, “we like big.” Pugh's intention was to be as bold as possible, and she didn't care if her look wasn't universally loved.
For Pugh, the point of fashion is to express oneself. She expressed that every time she steps out in a dress, she is showing a version of herself that she is proud of. Whether or not people like her style doesn't matter to her. Pugh believes that things being up for debate is good, as it means people are interested.
And Pugh doesn't care if her look's not universally loved.
“The whole point is that you are expressing yourself with what you are wearing,” the British beauty said.
“Every time I step out in whatever dress, that's a version of me that I'm really proud of. So it doesn't matter if people don't necessarily like it. I don't think anything that I do has to be 100 percent loved. Things being up for debate is good. It means people are interested.”
