The entire jaw-dropping incident was caught on camera, as the 18-year-old repeatedly exclaimed “no” and desperately sought a refund for his accidental purchase.
During a live stream, a viewer playfully goaded Speed into checking out the virtual fedora on his Discord server while he was exploring expensive items within Roblox.
Amused by the exorbitant price, Speed decided to tease his audience, making them believe he was about to buy the fedora but would back out at the last moment during the confirmation screen.
However, he failed to realize that the seemingly harmless click he was about to make would actually confirm the purchase, leading him to unintentionally acquire one of the most expensive fedoras available for a whopping 14,000,000 Robux. This purchase narrowly missed surpassing the highest-priced fedora on the platform, which stands at 15,000,000 Robux per piece. This incident comes shortly after a similar mishap involving a 10-year-old child who made unauthorized Roblox purchases amounting to approximately AUD $4,676 (£2,500) using her mother's account.
According to BBC News, the children in that case changed the password on her iPad without their mother's knowledge, raising concerns and prompting Georgina Munday from Denbighshire to caution other parents to be vigilant regarding their children's online activities.
The blunder brought amusement to many, as one user exclaimed, “NO WAY LMAOOO,” while another commented, “Holy fk bro became one of the richest robloxians by value just by buying this.” A third person shared their own relatable experience, stating, “Me when I fk around just to see the total on Shein and it goes through instead.”
