DJ Akademiks had a low turnout for his live show at the 2023 Roots Picnic. Reports suggest that only eight people attended the event, adding to Akademiks' troubles.
During the festival in Philadelphia on Saturday night (June 3), the controversial media personality hosted an episode of his Off the Record podcast. He interviewed up-and-coming Florida rapper Lil Boom on the Podcast Stage. Videos from the event showed a small group of people present, with tweets claiming that only eight individuals were in attendance.
Freddie Gibbs, who has engaged in social media spats with Akademiks in the past, seemed to enjoy his rival's apparent misfortune. He shared a clip of the sparse crowd on Twitter, accompanied by the comment “Damn.”
Earlier on Tuesday (May 30), a video circulated in which DJ Akademiks criticized Yung Miami. In the clip, Akademiks insulted Miami, calling her talentless. He expressed his opinion on his Twitch stream, stating that she was a “clown” and a “one-trick pony.”
Akademiks believed that her only skill was manipulating men, and he referenced her conversations with Diddy and her emotional response to his remarks. He also addressed Diddy directly, urging him to look into the matter.

Yung Miami responded to the call-out by leaving a comment on an Instagram blog, where she simply wrote “Batty Boy,” using Jamaican slang for a homosexual man.
This beef between DJ Akademiks and Yung Miami initially started when the blogger referred to her as Diddy's side piece after the Bad Boy Entertainment founder revealed that he had fathered a child with another woman while he was dating the rapper in December.
