‘I’m not happy since my Husband married her’: Jealous woman kills pregnant co-wife in Lagos
A woman identified as Fatima Rahman from Chad Republic has been accused of killing her pregnant co-wife, Adizat, in Lagos State due to jealousy.
The suspect was arraigned before Magistrate P E Nwaka at a Magistrates' Court in Yaba and was remanded to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre. Rahman committed the crime in her residence on Alejo Street, Ijede, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Rahman reportedly visited Adizat's residence under the guise of being a nurse and stabbed her to death because she was unhappy about her husband's decision to marry another wife.
After Adizat's death, a neighbour who saw Rahman when she arrived at the residence indicted her, as deep wounds were found on the deceased's neck and head.
The prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, disclosed that Rahman committed the offence on April 9, 2023, around 12.40 pm at 43, Alejo Street, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Rahman was charged with one count of murder according to Section 222 and punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
When Rahman was found guilty of the act, the prosecutor prayed the court to remand her in custody until legal advice is received from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The presiding Jury remanded Rahman to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, and the case was adjourned until May 25, 2023, for trial.
It's a tragic story of how jealousy can lead to devastating consequences, and the loss of life is always painful for everyone involved.
