Fox8 reports that a tragic accident occurred as a result of a suspected drunk driver who crashed into a golf cart carrying a newly married couple, killing the bride and injuring the groom as they were leaving their reception on Friday night.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina, the suspect, Jamie Lee Komoroski, was traveling at a speed well beyond the designated limit of 25 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
The bride, Samantha Miller, aged 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Charleston County Coroner's report to WCSC. The groom and two others were also injured in the crash. The authorities charged the driver, Jamie Lee Komoroski, aged 25, with reckless vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, causing death.
Following the tragedy, Miller's mother-in-law started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for Aric Hutchinson's medical expenses and Samantha Miller's funeral costs.
The fund has received more than double its target goal. Annette Hutchinson, the mother-in-law, wrote in the GoFundMe campaign's description that she was given Aric's wedding ring in a plastic bag five hours after Sam had placed it on his finger and they exchanged their vows. She also stated that Aric had lost the love of his life.
