Tinubu's assault on subsidy is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious: In this interview, Hon. Obahiagbon, who also campaigned with Tinubu's Presidential Campaign team, expresses his belief that President Tinubu's stance on subsidy is excellent. He uses grandiloquent words and phrases to convey his thoughts. However, he is confident that Tinubu will lead Nigeria out of its challenges.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
Interviewer: You campaigned vigorously all over the country for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to become the President of Nigeria. Are you fulfilled that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria today?
Hon. Obahiagbon: I am extremely fulfilled with the outcome of the presidential campaign. It was exhausting and mentally challenging, but I was certain that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would emerge victorious as the President of Nigeria.
Interviewer: But LP and PDP are claiming that the process was flawed and that the INEC Chairman did not follow through with some of the commitments he made to the Commission?
Hon. Obahiagbon: The claims made by both the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party about election rigging are baseless. If President Tinubu rigged the election, why didn't he manipulate the results in Lagos? Did former President Buhari not consider rigging in Katsina? The truth is, President Tinubu was the most politically prepared candidate, breaking through various divisions in our society. The Labour Party didn't have a strong national structure, and the PDP was disunited.
Interviewer: Where did your confidence come from?
Hon. Obahiagbon: My confidence was based on political pragmatism and a realistic understanding of history. It was evident to everyone that the People's Democratic Party was severely weakened and stood no chance. Similarly, the Labour Party's campaign relied on ethnic and religious divisions and the disinterest of the youth.
Interviewer: What is your reaction to the President's position on the removal of subsidy?
Hon. Obahiagbon: I am surprised that some analysts have criticized Mr. President's righteous stance on subsidy. What did he say that was new? He simply reiterated what was already known. It shows that we are the cause of our problems in this country.
Interviewer: Many believe that Tinubu shouldn't have declared that the subsidy is gone, as it created chaos and panic.
Hon. Obahiagbon: It is unnecessary to blame President Tinubu for the chaos following his statement. He was only acknowledging the already existing reality brought about by the Buhari government. Chaos in this aspect of our lives has been regular. Instead, let's blame those who exploit the situation for personal gain. What we need now is a bold leader who can make tough decisions. From that perspective, President Tinubu's decision on the subsidy is great.
Interviewer: Do you believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver?
Hon. Obahiagbon: I am supremely confident that he has the necessary wisdom, vision, and courage to make the right decisions that will lift our country out of economic challenges, political turmoil, and social decay. His political history proves that he can unite and heal our nation.
Interviewer: Some insist that we may face a situation similar to what happened during the Buhari years due to age and health concerns.
Hon. Obahiagbon: People are being presumptuous here. Life and health are beyond our control. From what I observed during the presidential campaign, President Tinubu is as fit as ever. He went through a lengthy campaign with mental sharpness and physical agility. There is no need to worry about his health.
The subsidy gone is a good thing, but it side effects on the masses is tremendous
