U.K hand over Ghanaian Influencer Mona Faiz Montrage, Mona 4Reall to U.S. govt for scamming over $2 million from older, single Americans
Fox Nigeria reports that Mona Faiz Montrage, a popular Ghanaian social media influencer known as Mona 4Reall, has been handed over to United States Government by United Kingdom.
She is facing charges of allegedly participating in a twisted lonely hearts scam, where she and a group of con artists from West Africa deceived older and single Americans, ultimately stealing over $2 million from them.
According to federal authorities, Montrage and her associates used fake identities to manipulate their victims into believing they were involved in romantic relationships. They employed various means, including emails, texts, and social media messages, to deceive their targets. Once the victims were emotionally invested, the scammers would manipulate them into transferring money under false pretenses.
The court documents outline some of the fraudulent schemes used by the group, such as convincing victims to send money to assist in the supposed transportation of gold from overseas to the United States, resolving fictitious FBI investigations, and making payments to purported US Army officers in Afghanistan.
One specific instance mentioned in the court papers involves Montrage allegedly convincing a victim to send her $89,000 through 82 wire transfers. The funds were solicited under the false pretext of aiding her father's farm in Ghana.
These serious charges highlight the extent of the alleged fraudulent activities perpetrated by Mona Faiz Montrage and her associates, targeting vulnerable individuals through the misuse of trust and false identities.
